Sparta at War by Scott Rusch (PhD, University of Pennsylvania) writes his newly published book on the city-state of Sparta and its strangle for power for nearly two centuries. He starts presenting the history of Sparta from its origins to its defeat in the early 360s BC. He focus on the Sparta’s leading role in the Persian invasion of Greece and the Peloponnesian War. He reads the available ancient literature from its military perspective, emphasizing on strategy and campaigns.
